12 Days of Christmas! Day 3: Stampin' Up! Warm Hugs with Hot Cocoa

Updated: Nov 21, 2020

Welcome to Day 3 of my 12 Days of Christmas! I think today's project is just sooo cute! When I first saw the Warm Hugs Stamp Set I was excited for all the gift giving potential it had. I knew it was going to be one of the first things I purchased from the August - December Mini Catalogue . . . and it was!

I found these cute little individual hot chocolate packages the other day (I mean, one has a gnome on it, how could I resist!) and I was excited to create a way to turn them into a little gift. I'm thinking that they would be fun as little table favours or stocking stuffers!

For the first one, I decided to make a pocket card. All you need is a 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" piece of cardstock, folded in half at 4 1/4". On the front of the card, cut down the centre 2" and then across to remove the piece of cardstock. Next, I cut the fun Trimming the Town Designer Series Paper. Cut one piece at 4" x 3" and adhere this to what will make the inside of your pocket. Cut a second piece at 4" x 3 1/4" and this will make the front. All you need to do now to make the pocket is to take some Tear & Tape and run one piece along the bottom and one along the outside edge, peel off the backing and secure your pocket!

Next up is the fun bit . . . the decorating! I was inspired by the idea of a marshmallow and the stripes on the gnome's hat. In Whisper White Cardstock I cut out a scalloped circle and then embossed it with the Wrapped in Texture Embossing Folder. Then, I chose the striped pattern from the Heartwarming Hugs DSP, cut it at 4" x 1 1/2" and punched out the end with the Triple Banner Punch. I, of course, had the use the marshmallow sentiment from the Warm Hugs Stamp Set and cut out a couple matching hot chocolate mugs with the coordinating dies. The final touches were the black and white twine from the Playful Pets Combo Pack and the Adhesive Backed Snowflakes add a little shimmer.

For the second hot chocolate pack, I went with a simple belly band. I chose another pattern from the Trimming the Town DSP and cut it at 8" x 2 1/2", wrapped it around the package and secured it at the back with some Tear & Tape. For the decoration on the front, using the Stitched Shapes Dies, I cut out a square in a Shaded Spruce pattern from the 'Tis the Season DSP. I stamped my hot chocolate sentiment again, stamped and cut out a couple more mugs and then tied the red ribbon from the All the Trimmings Combo Pack around.

I think these turned out really cute and inspire you to share some joy this Christmas even with something as simple as hot chocolate!
