Welcome to Day 2 of my 12 Days of Christmas! Today's project is a Christmas card that features one of my favourite Christmas patterns . . . buffalo plaid!
If yesterday I wanted to make a simple project with not too many tools . . . today I went all out! I wanted to create a card that had a natural, rustic feel to it. I used my Stamparatus to help me stamp a background with the Buffalo Check stamp and then I cut out the circle shape with the Stitched Shapes Dies.
The card base is made with Thick Whisper White Cardstock. The next layers are a piece of Shaded Spruce cardstock cut at 3 7/8" x 5 1/8" and then the patterned paper is the from the 'Tis the Season Designer Series Paper cut at 3 3/4" x 5". Even though the ribbon I used is not Shaded Spruce but Pretty Peacock and Old Olive, I found that it still matches really well and I love the little bit of shimmer that it gives to the card.
Then, I just added a few more layers to keep the rustic feel going. Linen Thread is an obvious choice and using Crumb Cake Cardstock to punch out the Pine Tree worked well. For the sentiment I heat embossed it in white on Basic Black Cardstock. The final touch was the Shaded Spruce gems from the Holiday Rhinestone pack.
I loved how it turned out so much that I thought I would make a matching gift tag! I am really looking forward to giving this card away this Christmas, it has quickly become one of my favourites! Maybe I'll have to make a couple more!
