A Touch of Ink: Step It Up

I always like to get my hands on a stamp set that is a little out of my comfort zone and then fall in love with it once I start to use it. The images from the A Touch of Ink Stamp Set in the new Sale-a-Bration brochure from Stampin' Up! are so beautifully designed that simply putting ink to paper creates an amazing card!

A Touch of Ink Stampin' Up! Canada

I have 3 cards to show you again today. This time I used the 'Step it Up' technique. This means that the 3 cards are similar, but just add more products or techniques with each card. This way you can make the card that best suits your style or crafting level.

This first card really highlights the flowers and the hummingbird images. I stamped the outline of the images in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink first and then stamped the colour on top. I used Just Jade, Bumblebee and Rococo Rose ink pads and stamped off the colour each time. The Basic White paper is cut at 4 1/4" x 3. I love how the colour is not meant to fit perfectly within the lines, it gives you lots of grace in your stamping! The sentiment is stamped on a piece of So Saffron cardstock cut at 4 1/4" x 1 1/4".

For the second card, I stamped a background on the card using a tone on tone technique; Mint Macaron ink on Mint Macaron cardstock. The stamped image is the same from the first card, but this time I layered it on top of a piece of Just Jade cardstock cut at 4 1/4" x 3 1/4" and that is layered on a piece of DSP from the Dandy Garden set cut at 4 1/4" x 3 3/4". This time I stamped the sentiment on a piece of Mint Macaron cut at 3" x 1" then punched out with the Triple Banner Punch.

Now for the third card, I tested my Stampin' Blends colouring skills! I am not an expert by any means, but I loved giving some colour to the hummingbird. I also coloured one of the flower images and then fussy cut them both out. I like how still stamping the background of the hummingbird gives him a shadow! This time the Just Jade cardstock was cut at 4 1/4" x 3 1/2" and the DSP is from the Flowers for Every Season and cut at 4 1/4" x 5". The sentiment is similar to the second card but I added a bit of Blushing Bride Twine.

I really love how all 3 of these cards turned out! I'm looking forward to playing with the butterfly in the future. The best part of course is that you can earn this stamp set for free when you spend $120 on any Stampin' Up! products! Yay!
