Book Binding Card with Sweet Ice Cream Bundle

Last week in my Facebook Group I had a great time showing off the Sweet Ice Cream Bundle from the Ice Cream Corner Suite from Stampin' Up!. Using this bundle and the matching Ice Cream Corner Designer Series Paper will definitely put a smile on your face!

Here is a fun card I made using the Book Binding Technique, it's so simple but creates such a fun look for the card!

All you need to do to create this look is add one extra fold to your card. I cut my Pool Party Cardstock to 4 1/4" x 11" and then scored it at 4 1/4" and 5 1/2". Then fold the card in half at the 5 1/2" mark. Add adhesive on the inside of the card up to the 4 1/4" score line and seal up that portion of the card to create your book binding look.

Now it's just the fun part of decorating the card!

Here are the dimensions for the layers:

  • "Spine" of the card:

    • Daffodil Delight: 1" x 4"

    • DSP: 7/8" x 3 7/8"

  • Card front:

    • Daffodil Delight: 4" x 4"

    • DSP: 3 7/8" x 3 7/8"

  • Inside of Card:

    • Basic White: 4" x 4"

On the spine I wrapped some of the Seam Binding Ribbon around and tied a bow. To keep it in place, I find if I put a glue dot just under the knot of the bow it will stay where I want it to!

The sentiment is stamped on a Basic White Cardstock in Bermuda Bay and cut out with the Stitched So Sweetly Dies (which I am thrilled are coming back in the next Annual Catalogue!). I then stamped the smaller sentiment in Granny Apple Green and cut out the words to add to the card. The ice cream is stamped in Terracotta Tile (but Calypso Coral will also look awesome) and Daffodil Delight. It was fun to pull out all my brights ink pads and have some fun!

I decided to add the popsicle to the inside of the card. Once you stamp this image once, you are going to fall in love! It is just the cutest! I love the dimension you get from the 2 step stamping!

I hope this card will make you smile and help you to make your own card with the book binding technique! If you would love any of the products I used today, you can find a full list at the end of this blog post.
