CCMC674: Tidings of Christmas (in July!)

Some suites in the Stampin' Up! catalogue you just know are going to be your favourites and use all the time. I feel that way toward the Tidings of Christmas Suite that can be found in the Annual Catalogue. I love the stamp set, the designer series paper is simply beautiful, the ribbon is soft and lovely and the dies can add the perfect details to your card! How's that for an intro! Needless to say, when I needed to create a card for this Thursday's Challenge for Create with Connie & Mary, I knew that I wanted to use some of this suite.

All this month we are CASEing (Copy And Share Everything) the catalogue. The sample this week gave me inspiration for the layout and the idea of heat embossing on vellum, which I have not done in a long time! Here is the original card for you.

Using the Tidings of Christmas Designer Series Paper, I chose 3 patterns and layered them on a Basic White card base. They are cut at 1 3/4" x 5 1/4", 1 1/2" x 5 1/4" and 1 1/4" x 5 1/4". Then I layered on a piece of vellum cut at 3 1/4" x 4 3/4". The star was stamped in Versa Mark on vellum, heat embossed in white and cut out with the coordinating die. The cute little holly also comes from the die set. Those berries are so tiny though! I picked them up with my Take Your Pick Tool and then added a little fine tip glue on the back and then continuing to use the tool, I placed the berry on the card. It worked and they stayed put!

The sentiment is one of my favourites and I think it looks great stamped in Evening Evergreen on Soft Succulent cardstock, cut to size at 2 3/4" x 1 /4". It went on top of a piece of gold trim, which is a hidden gem in the Annual Catalogue that you are going to want to pick up for your holiday projects!

I hope this card gives you a little inspiration for your own crafting! Be sure to head over to Create with Connie & Mary to see what the other lovely ladies created this week!
