CCMC683: A Fall Thank You Card

I can't believe that yesterday was the first day of Fall already! Here in Calgary, Fall is such a beautiful time of year, but it tends to be so fleeting! So, I just enjoy every day as it comes and relish in the crisp air and lovely fall leaves against the backdrop of a bright blue sky. For this week's Sketch Challenge with Create with Connie & Mary, I knew I wanted to use this lovely leaf patterned paper that can be found in the Pattern Party DSP. I had it out just waiting for the perfect card!

I might say this every time, but I love the sketch this week. It is definitely not one I would have come up with on my own, but I loved creating with it. Here is the original so you can use it with your own creative ideas.

To create the main angled piece, I cut my DSP to 5" x 3". I then marked 1 1/2" on one end (to get the middle of the paper) and then 1 1/4" down each side. Using my Paper Trimmer, I cut from the mark on the side up to the middle to create the point. I cut a piece of Bumblebee cardstock to tuck behind, using the DSP as a guide to cut the same angle. The strip of Shaded Spruce is 5 1/8" x 1/4".

I've been working through some different fall colour combos (for me anyway!) and I really love this look of Bumblebee with Shaded Spruce! I took the bold "thanks" stamp from the Biggest Wish Stamp Set and first stamped the Bumblebee on the top and then stamped the bottom half in Shaded Spruce. Because the stamp set is a photopolymer one it was easy to get the placement where I wanted it. To complete the card, I looped some gold trim behind the sentiment, which I adhered to the card with Stampin' Dimensionals.

To see more ideas based on this sketch, be sure to head over to Create with Connie & Mary to see what the other lovely ladies designed this week. So much inspiration in one place!
