CCMC685: Sketch Challenge Birthday Card

If you're looking for inspiration for your own card making, playing along with a sketch challenge can be the perfect way to get started! It's so helpful if you're a beginner or an experienced card maker as well. We all need a little help with ideas sometimes!

This week's sketch challenge for Create with Connie & Mary was one I had never made before and I love how it turned out! There are so many fun ways you could interpret this one. Here's a copy of the original sketch for you to use in your own crafting.

I decided to go with a birthday card theme and I have been itching to use Rich Razzleberry and Blackberry Bliss on a project since I saw the lovely Blackberry Beauty Specialty DSP in the July-December 2021 Mini Catalogue. Inspiration is everywhere!

The basic dimensions for this card are:

  • Rich Razzleberry: 3 3/4" x 5"

  • DSP: 3 5/8" x 4 7/8"

  • Blackberry Bliss Strips: 3 3/4" x 1/2" (cut them a bit long, adhere to DSP and cardstock layer, then snip off the excess.)

  • Rich Razzleberry Banner: 2 1/2" x 3 1/2" (I used the Basic Borders Dies to create the point at the end)

To finish off the card I knew I wanted to incorporate gold somehow. I looped the gold trim first and secured it to the card. The star was cut out with the Christmas Trimmings Dies in Gold Foil and added on with Stampin' Dimensionals. For some bling, the Brushed Metallic dots were just perfect! To finish off, I chose one of my favourite birthday sentiments and stamped it in Blackberry Bliss.
