Let's Get Trendy: A Festive Slimline Card

I'm a weird mix of loving what is current and trendy, but also not wanting to do what everyone else is doing. Do you find you're like that a bit? Did you know that there are trends that pop up in the crafting world too? Right now I've been seeing a lot of what are called Slimline Cards and I decided that it would be fun to jump on this particular trend and try out one of my own!

Today's card features the Trimming the Town Designer Series Paper, which is one of my favourite Christmas papers for sure. The fun and whimsical patterns in Poppy Parade, Old Olive and Misty Moonlight make for some cute card making abilities!

Here are the basic dimensions for this card.

Crumb Cake Card Base: 9 1/4" x 8", folded in half at 4"

Whisper White: 9" x 3 3/4"

Designer Series Paper: 3 designs at 8 3/4" x 1 1/8" each

I also thought it would be fun to learn how to make an envelope to go with the card! Why not?! This card will also fit into a regular business sized envelope, but if you like the coordination aspect, then grab a sheet of DSP that matches your card and follow these instructions.

  1. Cut DSP at 9 7/8" x 11"

  2. Score on the short side (the 9 7/8" side) at 2 3/4" and 7 1/8"

  3. Turn the paper and score on the long side at 7/8" and 10 1/2"

  4. Cut out the 4 outside corners

  5. Fold the two long sides in and adhere with Stampin' SEAL

  6. Fold up the bottom piece and adhere with Stampin' SEAL

  7. Put card inside and close envelope with a little adhesive on the flap

  8. Decorate as desired!

If you haven't already, I hope you try out this trend for yourself with your favourite DSP! Remember that the DSP Sale is only on until the end of the month and you don't want to miss getting 15% off your faves. Shop now with October's Host Code BD2KF3K3 and get a special thank you from me!
