Hello! Thanks for joining us on the Create with Connie & Mary Saturday Blog Hop! We are having fun with Halloween projects for the next couple weeks. Our theme for this week was Spooky Forest. Now, I have to admit here, I have absolutely NO Halloween products this year so it was time to test my creativity!
I used the colour scheme from Stampin' Up!'s Them Bones Suite for my inspiration, going with Starry Sky, Pumpkin Pie and Basic Black. I saw a few cards with a blended background and I thought it would be fun to try it too. I punched out a circle from a post it note and put it on Basic White cardstock. Using Blending Brushes, first in Highland Heather and then in Starry Sky I added the colour for the background.
The next tricky part was the tree! Believe it or not I have no tree stamps! I tried out a few things and ended up liking this one the best. I used the spruce branch stamp from the Christmas Classics Stamp Set and stamped it a few times until it kind of looked like a tree and then just drew in the trunk myself.
The black and orange labels came from the Christmas Classics Dies, which were a great background for my sentiment. My Alphabet a la Mode Dies came in handy for the 'boo' and I cut out the 'to you' from one of the sentiments in the Joy to You Stamp Set. I felt like the card still needed something else, so I just cut out a few bats myself and added them on with mini dimensionals. It was fun to push myself outside my comfort zone this week!
