Hello! Thanks for joining us on the Create with Connie & Mary Saturday Blog Hop! For this week's theme we are trying our hands at slimline cards. I love using this larger size of a card for an extra special event like a big birthday or a congratulations. This week I decided to go with a birthday card and feature the adorable animals on the Zoo Crew Designer Series Paper.
My card base is Lemon Lolly cardstock, cut at 8 1/2" x 7" and then folded in half at 3 1/2". The background patterned paper (also from Zoo Crew) is cut at 8 1/4" x 3 1/4". To create the backdrop for the animals, I used a 7 3/4" x 2 3/4" piece of Basic White cardstock and added a little colour (Lemon Lolly) in three spots using my Blending Brushes.
Then, I just needed to fussy cut out 3 of my favourite birthday animals and add them onto their "spotlight" using Stampin' Dimensionals. I added a simple 'happy birthday' sentiment from the Something Fancy Stamp Set and then just a few Classic Matte Dots in black to complete the card. I am a little obsessed with how this card turned out and can't wait to find just the right person to send it to!
