Saturday Blog Hop: Cards with Frames

Hello! Thanks for joining us on the Create with Connie & Mary Saturday Blog Hop! This week's theme was 'Frames'. The card that I created is one of my favourite ways to make a frame on a card. It uses the Rings of Love Designer Series Paper that is a Sale-a-Bration item that can be earned for free with a $60 purchase. One of the reasons I love this patterned paper is that it has something for every season. I went with the more summery look for today's card.

First, I cut out a 4" x 5 1/4" piece of the DSP, then cut out a square using the second largest one from the Stylish Shapes Dies. The flower pattern is what is on the other side of the plaid. On a Crumb Cake card base, adhere the square first, then add the plaid using dimensionals or foam strips to pop it off the card to create a window frame look. The frame was created with Soft Suede cardstock. Just lay the 2 largest squares on your cardstock at the same time, cut it out with your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine and you'll have the perfect sized frame.

The fun wood slice was just fussy cut out from the same package of designer series paper. You can add any sentiment you like depending on the occasion for your card. I combined 2 sayings from Sale-a-bration's Amazing Phrasing Stamp Set. They are stamped in Evening Evergreen on Mint Macaron and just fussy cut out again. I have a feeling it won't take me long to cut out all those wood slices to use on different cards, they are so much fun!
