Hello! Thanks for joining us on the Create with Connie & Mary Saturday Blog Hop! We are nearing the end of our fun series where each week we are casing a card from one of the designers. Casing is a term that just means, 'copy and share everything'. It's one of the joys of card making, to be inspired by others' creativity!
This week, we are casing Libby Fens! I was really drawn to the layout of this card and the fun vibrant colours.
I tweaked my colours a bit from her card, keeping the Tahitian Tide but changing out the green for a little Fresh Freesia so that I could play around with the Joyful Flurry Bundle.
Here are the basic dimensions:
Basic Grey Card Base: 8 1/2" x 5 1/2", scored in half at 4 1/4"
Shimmery White: 3 1/4" x 4 3/4"
Fresh Freesia: 3 3/4" x 4 1/2"
Tahitian Tide Glimmer Strip: 1/2" x 4 3/4"
Fresh Freesia for sentiment: 2 1/4" x 1 1/4"
I started off by stamping the little dots around the edge of the card, just tone on tone with Basic Grey. These 3D snowflakes are so much fun to use! I chose 3 of them and cut out the design on a piece of Shimmery White Cardstock. Since you can see through the snowflakes, I layered them on top of a piece of Fresh Freesia Cardstock.
The Tahitian Tide Glimmer paper in a strip helps to add to the sparkle of the card. I designed the rest of the card in a similar way to Libby. The snowflake is stamped in Tahitian Tide and also cut out with the Frosted Flurry Dies. The pretty 'Joyful Wishes' sentiment was heat embossed in white on Fresh Freesia. Finally, I added these beautiful sequins from the Adhesive-Backed Sequins & Gems, which comes with 3 different colours and 2 different shapes.
