Saturday Blog Hop: Casing Mary Brown

Hello! Thanks for joining us on the Create with Connie & Mary Saturday Blog Hop! We are beginning a brand new series this week, where each week we will case a card from one of the designers. Casing is a term that just means, 'copy and share everything'. It's one of the joys of card making, to be inspired by others' creativity!

This week, we are casing Mary Brown. Here is the card that I have chosen to case. I just loved the layout and was really inspired by the colour scheme and wanted to use it on a Christmas card.

I have used products from the Sweetest Christmas Suite to create this card. The main colours are Real Red, Soft Sea Foam, Pear Pizzazz and Crumb Cake. I really love the way these soft greens look with the Real Red!

Here are the basic dimensions:

  • Soft Sea Foam Card Base: 8 1/2" x 5 1/2", scored in half at 4 1/4"

  • Real Red Cardstock: 3 5/8" x 5 1/8"

  • Sweetest Christmas DSP: 3 1/2" x 5"

  • Real Red Glimmer Paper: 4" x 3/8"

  • Crumb Cake Cardstock: 2 3/4" x 1"

Once I had the background of the card, I just started layering in all the fun details. The piece of glimmer paper was actually an off cut from when I used the stripes die from the Candy Cane Dies. Never waste a piece of glimmer paper! The candy canes were stamped in Real Red and cut out with the coordinating dies. I coloured in the little stripes on the candy canes with a Soft Sea Foam Stampin' Write Marker.

The sentiment was stamped in Real Red and then heat embossed with clear powder to help it pop off that Crumb Cake cardstock. The little leaves are from the Christmas Banners Dies and were cut out in Soft Sea Foam and Pear Pizzazz. To add to the glimmer, I finished off the card with the classic Red Rhinestones, a must have in your Christmas crafting supplies!
