Saturday Blog Hop: Casing Mary Brown

Hello! Thanks for joining us on the Create with Connie & Mary Saturday Blog Hop! We are beginning a new series this week where we CASE a card from one of the designers. This is a great way to see how you can take the colours and layout from someone else's card and make it your own! Mary Brown is the first one we are casing and I was really taken with this card that she had made a couple months ago.

I think that these are the perfect colours for fall. I used the same Crumb Cake card base, then used Pretty Peacock, Copper Clay, Lost Lagoon and some gold and copper accents. It was fun to use the Cheerful Daisies Bundle in colours that I haven't tried before. Each daisy outline was stamped in black on Very Vanilla cardstock, then the centre was stamped in each of the 3 colours. I heat embossed the centre of the daisies with copper embossing powder to bring in a similar metallic accent that Mary had used.

The daisies were added on top of 3 pieces of Very Vanilla that were cut out with the Something Fancy Dies to replicate the background on Mary's card. The sentiment was stamped in Pretty Peacock and cut to size on a 1/2" strip of Very Vanilla, then laid on top of a strip of Gold Foil. The final details were the branches cut out in Basic White and adding a few Brushed Metallic Dots in Copper.
