Saturday Blog Hop: Casing Melissa Davies

Hello! Thanks for joining us on the Create with Connie & Mary Saturday Blog Hop! We are in the midst of a fun series, where each week we will case a card from one of the designers. Casing is a term that just means, 'copy and share everything'. It's one of the joys of card making, to be inspired by others' creativity!

This week, we are casing Melissa Davies. She had so many fabulous cards, but I loved the fall colour scheme that she has on this card with Crumb Cake, Cajun Craze, Old Olive & Daffodil Delight. A perfect fall colour combination!

I have been playing around with the Hello Harvest Bundle this week, but wanted to try to show it in a different way than I have done so far. The Rings of Love Designer Series Paper that you can earn through Sale-a-bration right now has something for every season and I love this fall pattern. It was the perfect backdrop for my card.

Here are the basic dimensions:

  • Crumb Cake Card Base: 8 1/2" x 5 1/2", scored in half at 4 1/4"

  • Early Espresso Cardstock: 4 1/8" x 5 3/8"

  • Rings of Love DSP: 4" x 5 1/4"

  • Basic White Cardstock: 3" x 4 1/2"

I loved the way Melissa used the Blossoming Happiness Dies to create the look of a page ripped out of a notebook. The Linen Thread tied around the top was also a great way to add to the rustic look I wanted for my card. I used the splatter technique with Crumb Cake ink on this piece as well to add a little interest.

The sentiment was stamped in Early Espresso Ink and cut out with the coordinating die from the Rustic Pumpkin Dies. Then I stamped and cut out a handful of leaves in Cajun Craze, Old Olive & Daffodil Delight. To complete the card I added a few curly cues from the same die set and some Brushed Metallic Adhesive Backed Dots.
