Hello! Thanks for joining us on the Create with Connie & Mary Saturday Blog Hop! This week's theme is all about a classic Red & Green Christmas card. I have made a shaker card today which is always fun to do. I've made a few over the last few weeks, it's a rediscovered technique for me that I'm loving right now.
The card base is Crumb Cake cardstock and the next layer is the buffalo plaid pattern from the Joy of Christmas DSP cut to 4" x 5 1/4". The Garden Green cardstock is cut to 3 1/4" x 4" and using the Merriest Trees Dies, I cut out the 2nd largest tree.
To create the shaker, I adhered a piece of Window Sheet behind the tree. Then, using Foam Adhesvie Strips I created a frame around the outside of the tree. I found it easier to lay the sequins (I used the Loose Holly Gems & Sequins, but any sequins or bits of paper will work) on top of the card, then I placed the green cardstock on top. Then I could make sure that the cardstock was centred properly.
I finished off the card with a simple sentiment from the Joy to You Stamp Set heat embossed in white on black cardstock, added the Black & Very Vanilla Check Ribbon and finally the star on top of the tree!
