Saturday Blog Hop: Traditional Christmas Colours

Hello! Thanks for joining us on our Create with Stamping Friends Saturday Blog Hop! Last week we had some fun with non-traditional colours for our Christmas cards and this week we're going back to the classic red & green. It really always looks lovely, you can't go wrong with it this time of year!

In keeping with the traditional colours, I went also with traditional imagery like the holly and greenery. This would be a great card to make multiples of if you are still making a few Christmas cards.

Stampin' Up! Christmas Card Ideas
Materials Used

These were the main inspiration for my card. You can also click the link below to see all the products used to make this card:

  • DSP: Reindeer Days DSP. This has great classic colours and patterns along with the cute reindeer.

  • Colour Combo: Garden Green, Real Red, Black & White

  • Special Addition: Festive Glimmer Paper. I like to add it in little bits, like the holly berries.

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Card Base:

    1. Cut Basic White cardstock to 5 1/2" x 8 1/2". Score in half at 4 1/4".

    2. Cut Real Red cardstock to 4" x 5 1/4". Adhere to card front.

    3. Cut DSP to 3 3/4" x 5" and add on top of Real Red.

  2. Sentiment:

    1. This is one of my favourite sentiments! To make it pop, I like to heat emboss it in white on Black cardstock.

    2. You can cut it out with any die. I used the Nested Essentials Dies.

  3. Greenery:

    1. Layer up 3 spruce boughs cut out in Garden Green with the Golden Greenery Dies. Add onto card.

    2. Add in some gems or these holly berries cut out of the Festive Glimmer Paper.

    3. Cut 10" of Real Red & White Baker's Twine, tie a bow and add to card.

So, are you more into the traditional look or do you like to change it up with some different colours?
