Thank you for coming by on this Saturday's Blog Hop! The theme for this week was 'We wish you a Merry Christmas', featuring some non-traditional Christmas colours. It's always good to try something a bit out of your comfort zone! I decided to embrace the pink and went with a colour scheme of Garden Green, Blushing Bride, Polished Pink and Grey Granite. Adding in the black felt like a bit of a modern touch.
To create the tree, I cut strips of cardstock out in each of the 4 colours. I cut them at different widths, 1/4", 3/8" and 1/2". I laid the strips down on a piece of Basic White cardstock and then cut out the largest tree shape from the Christmas Trees Dies. Wouldn't it be fun to try this in a bunch of different colour combos?
On the card base I stamped these little stars from the Merriest Moments Stamp Set. Then I layered on the Polished Pink DSP cut at 3 1/4" x 5". The Basic White was cut at 3" x 4 3/4" and coloured with Polished Pink using the Blending Brushes. It felt a bit plain being just white, so the brushes easily solved that problem!
The black just brings the card together, from the embossed 'Joy' to the Black & White Gingham ribbon to the Black Matte dots.
