Sketch Inspiration: CCMC655

I have a great sketch inspiration for you this week with Create with Connie and Mary. If you're looking for ideas on how to design a card, starting with a sketch is a great way to get the ideas flowing.

Here is my card for this week.

The sketch this week had a whimsical feel for me with the background being slightly askew. It immediately made me think of the Playing with Patterns Designer Series Paper with its fun and playful polkadot patterns and its bright springy colours. Here is the sketch for you to check out.

I chose a bold polkadot pattern for the background. Each strip is cut to 4" x 1 1/2" and matted on Petal Pink Cardstock cut at 4 1/8" x 1 5/8". These rectangles were adhered to the card in the fun angled way on a Basic White card base.

I then chose a piece of the DSP with a smaller pattern, cut it at 2 5/8" x 5 1/8" and matted it on So Saffron Cardstock cut at 2 3/4" x 5 1/4". Before I attached it to the card, I wrapped some white twine (from Snail Mail Twine Combo Pack) around and tied a bow.

I also wanted to bring some whimsy to the sentiment and I thought it would be fun to try to stamp one fabulous sentiment from the Happiest of Birthdays Stamp Set in multiple colours. Remember, if you try this to always start with the lightest colour first! I stamped the bottom in Petal Pink, then the middle in Bumblebee and finally the top in Calypso Coral. Then I fussy cut it out and attached it to the card with Stampin' Dimensionals. For the finishing touch, I added a few of the Playing with Patterns Resin Dots.

I hope you'll head over to Create with Connie & Mary to see what all the other fabulous designers created this week! You can also see below for a list of all the products I used today. We'd love for you to create your own design with this sketch and share it on the Facebook page!
