I had never really done sketch challenges before I joined with Create with Connie & Mary. However, now I love doing them! They are such a fantastic way to make a card come together quickly. I find the layout the hardest part to figure out on a card, so if that is done for me then I can concentrate on the fun stuff!
Here is my card for this week.
I used a few of my favourite items that are retiring on this card. I especially love those Gold Glitter Enamel Dots! Better stock up before they're gone :)
Here is the sketch inspiration that we had for this week. I love the way the rectangular pieces play off the circles in this sketch!
The base of my card is Pool Party Cardstock and then I chose one of my favourite patterns from the Forever Greenery DSP (which is on sale right now!). The DSP was cut to 4" x 5 1/4". I then layered a 2 7/8" x 3 3/8" piece of the exact same pattern on Blushing Bride Cardstock cut at 3" x 3 1/2".
For my circle shape, I decided to use a Gold Hoop around some vellum that was punched out with the 2" circle punch. (Did you know that all the circle punches are retiring!!). Then I added my gold sprig on top of the hoop.
The sentiment comes from one of my go-to stamp sets, Happiest of Birthdays. I heat embossed it in white on Blushing Bride Cardstock cut at 3 1/4" x 1 /4". This was layered on top of a piece of Just Jade Cardstock cut at 3 3/4" x 1/2". I used Stampin' Dimensionals for both of these pieces so that they layered nicely on top of the gold hoop. The final detail was of course my Gold Glitter Enamel Dots!
