This week's sketch challenge for Create with Connie & Mary has great simple elements that will make it easy for you to create your own handmade cards. It also gave me an excuse to use some of the awesome black & white patterns from the Pattern Party DSP that I love so much!
Isn't this a fun layout?! Laying your paper at an angle like this can give your projects a fun whimsical feel, which I am all for!
Here is the original sketch for you to add to your collection of inspiration!
To create the background for my card, I used a Basic Black card base and then I embossed a 5 1/4" x 4" piece of Just Jade with the Painted Texture 3D Embossing Folder. I then cut out my 3 rectangle pieces of the Pattern Party DSP. The dimensions are 1 1/2" x 3 1/2" (x2) and then 2 1/2" x 3 1/2".
The sentiment comes from the Happiest of Birthdays Stamp Set (a classic for sure!) and is stamped in Fresh Freesia on Basic White cut at 2 3/4" x 1". I used Stampin' Dimensionals to lay this on Fresh Freesia cardstock cut at 3 1/2" x 1/2". To add a little fun to the card, I hand cut out a couple flowers from the DSP and added a little colour to them by using Sponge Daubers. Last but not least, you gotta have a little bling! These come from the In Color Jewels.
