Step it Up! 3 Christmas Card Ideas with the Joy to You Stamp Set

I love how card making can be as simple or as elaborate as you would like it to be. You can simply put stamps, ink and paper together for a beautiful clean look or you can continue to add in layers with Designer Series Paper, die cutting, ribbons, embellishments and more! On my weekly live video tutorial (replay is below), I shared how you can start with an easy card and then how to step it up to add in more elements.

Joy to You Stamp Set Stampin Up Christmas Cards Handmade

I chose to focus on on the Joy to You Stamp Set. It's large and bold sentiments are perfect for simple cardmaking as they can easily take up a lot of space and be the star of your card. For the first card, I only used the stamp set, Basic White card stock and 2 ink colours, Garden Green and Granny Apple Green. I stamped a simple background with a holly branch stamp. You can easily switch that image out for whatever Christmas image you'd like on your card. Then I stamped the sentiment in both greens and added on with Stampin' Dimensionals.

To step this card up, I added in a little bit of Designer Series Paper. These patterns come from the A Walk in the Forest DSP. To add a little bit of fun to the sentiment I used my Stampin' Write Markers to add in some polka dots. You could also use the markers to ink up your stamps if you didn't have the ink pads.

For the last card, it was time to add in a bit of die cutting and embellishments. I also added in a couple simple colouring techniques to help you easily add dimension to your card. After I stamped the sentiment, I blended on some Pool Party ink with my Blending Brushes to create a softer background than just the white cardstock. The holly leaves were coloured in with a bit of ink and the Wink of Stella. Be sure to watch the replay for all these tips and ideas!

Of course, when you're done your card making you might need a few quick gift tags. This cute one will only take you a minute to make!
